Stalis Beach
A two-kilometre stretch of golden sand and clear water, with tavernas, cafés and beach bars along the seafront. Follow the promenade in the late afternoon when the heat eases.
Hersonissos
About 2 km away, Hersonissos offers beaches, water parks and more evening activity. Above the coast, Ano Hersonissos, Piskopiano and Koutouloufari are worth visiting for a village meal.
Heraklion
Crete's capital is 30 km west. Plan a day for the Venetian walls and harbour, museums, cafés and the city centre.
